As 2021 is coming to a close, I thought I’d write about my reflections of the year.
It’s been a COVID dominated year for many, and Omicron looms large. I take some comfort from knowing that Calpendo contributed in a small way to the solution by being used in the facility that created the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine.
Everybody has faced challenges over the last two years, and we have been luckier than many. Exprodo employees are now permanently working from home. There hasn’t been a change to how we support our customers, although working from home does make it easier to deal with those in very different time zones from ours.
We faced an interesting moment in September when all our services were down for around 12 hours. It served as a learning experience for a variety of reasons and reinforces my desire to make our service as solid as possible.
We have almost completed a roll out of a major upgrade to version 10 of Calpendo. This is a large step towards a federation of cooperating Calpendos, each of which offer our standard bespoke versatility while allowing top-down control and cross-facility reporting.
The immediate benefits to customers include:
- linked bookings so that related resource can be automatically linked (for example to book the creation of a radiotracer ahead of a PET scanner booking)
- the ability to display complicated custom booking forms in whatever manner you want
- full support for clinical trial integration with Calpendo where you want to track subjects and studies across multiple visits.
For the coming year, I’m hoping we’ll be able to meet people at conferences again. We’re currently booked in at ABRF in California and ISMRM in London. We’re also restarting our webinar series and we expect 2022 to include the release of a Calpendo mobile app.
I, and everyone at Exprodo Software, wish you all the very best for the festive season and a happy COVID-free new year.
